Julie Cromwell is originally from Leeds, England and since 2003 has lived in Maungatapere, Whangarei. Cromwell studied studio ceramics at Derbyshire University graduating in 1992. She worked as a thrower in different potteries in England and Ireland along with attending UK craft fairs demonstrating, and selling work. In 1996 graduated as a teacher, gaining an HONS degree in 1998.

Whilst teaching Visual Art she continued create and develop in her own field of practice. In 2017 Cromwell embarked on a MFA course and was involved in the Collaborationsnz. Her passion is creating wheel thrown vessels completed with in variety of firing processes such as: Raku, Gas, Pit and Wood firing.
