Oil, Acrylic, Pastel Painting Watercolour
Dip. Applied Arts (Visual Arts)
I am a practising artist and printmaker and my career spans over three decades. Along with numerous solo exhibitions I have participated in group exhibitions in the Far North and throughout New Zealand.
While living in Doubtless Bay I established an art school and taught watercolours, acrylic and oil pastel. I have continued to teach in Kerikeri.
Working in mixed media, watercolour, oil pastels, and ink most of my art depicts my affinity to the Far North of New Zealand, its historical importance and aesthetic beauty. Native birds, each with their own character are featured in my pen and wash drawings. My style is mostly representational. My studio which is affectionately called the ‘Hippy Hut’ is surrounded by bush and loved by tui, Kereru and many other birds who constantly entertain me while I work.
I am inspired by patterns, colours, objects and textures and often use sand, shell and seaweed in my mixed media paintings of the beach affirming the true nature of a place.
My discovery of printmaking and its unique possibilities, explore my personal relationships to ‘family’ and ‘land’.
I exhibit and sell my work at The Packhouse Market, Kerikeri BOI which is open every Saturday.
