KOAST – Tai Tokerau Art Trail is a wonderful art event each year for Tai Tokerau, where an amazing array of artists reside and you can enjoy stunning scenery from Bay of Islands to 90 mile beech. Working in a wide variety of media, you’ll find artists, potters, jewellers, painters, sculptors, wood carvers, furniture makers and photographers to name a few. There are also artists producing fibre art and ceramics.
October 2025 saw over 200 artists (in galleries, art hubs and their own studios), spread around the region from Russell to Kaitaia, Hokianga and Doubtless Bay, which was very exciting.
So plan your trip for 2026 and four days over Labour Weekend and enjoy wonderful scenery, delicious food and talented artists. The KOAST – Tai Tokerau Art Trail Guide, which also contains a raffle ticket (estimated 2026 value $5000), all the artists taking part, suggested itineraries, refreshments stops and our lovely accommodation sponsors.
This guide is a valuable tool for the whole year as you are able to contact and visit artists at work in their studios. Using a KOAST – Tai Tokerau Trail Guide, visitors can plan a weekend spent exploring the Tai Tokerau art scene.
You can also check out the artist’s listing on this website and give them a call or email them. Some have their studios open all year, others by appointment.
And if you’re from out of town and are looking for accommodation, you could choose from among our accommodation supporters.
