Teresa HR Lane is a painter and collage artist whose practice blends the tactile technique of "painting with paper, drawing with scissors" with the expressive depth of paint. By uniting these mediums, she creates layered, visually striking works that explore how we consume information. Her art offers a sharp, reflective commentary on the intertwining of past and present, challenging conventional readings of history and questioning how meaning is constructed and deconstructed in contemporary life.
Lane holds a Master of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland (2017). Her work has been recognised with the Akel Schulte Runner-up Award in the Molly Morpeth Canaday Painting & Drawing Award (2019), and she has been a finalist in the National Contemporary Art Award (2019) and the Wallace Art Awards (2017). Her recent exhibition, Gathering Leaves, was held at the Arts House Trust, Pah Homestead in Auckland. She also co-leads This Is Us Here Now, a community arts project in the Far North with Marita Hewitt.
