Rawinia Le Noel was raised in the rural settlement of Horeke, in the upper reaches of the Hokianga Harbour; a place steeped in history, spirit, and ancestral presence. Her creative practice is deeply influenced by her Christian faith and Māori culture, foundations that both guide and challenge her artistic journey.
The Hokianga remains her greatest source of inspiration, grounding her work in themes of memory, identity, and belonging. Working primarily with acrylics, her paintings reflect the land, her spirituality, and cultural heritage. Rawinia holds a Diploma in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Māori Arts and has established a community art space to promote Toi Māori and foster creative expression and pride within her community.
